The snow may still be falling, but soon it will be time for s’mores and songs around the campfire at all three of our Dakotas Conference campsites. Find all the camps available this summer on the Dakotas Conference Camping Website.
A few reminders…
- Camp is for all ages! No matter what age bracket you claim, there is a place at camp for you! Whether you’re taking your grandchildren to a Grandparents & Me Camp (Lake Poinsett), going to your first SonSeekers camp (Storm Mt & Wesley Acres), taking on an entire week-long camp (All Sites), or are taking your entire family to a Family Camp (all sites), you are welcome! Outside of the “season” there are also retreat opportunities for adults of all ages. You (Yes, you) belong at camp!
- Each of our sites provide a special atmosphere. Storm Mountain Center is set in the majestic Black Hills of South Dakota, and provides modern facilities as well as creek-side cabins for those who really want to rough it. Lake Poinsett Camp & Living Waters Retreat Center located south of Watertown, SD, features the 2,000-acre Lake Poinsett with an extensive waterfront play area. You can also worship in the Hubbard Chapel every Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day! Wesley Acres, located north of Valley City, ND, is truly a place set apart. Bald Hill Creek runs right through the middle of camp, providing opportunities for canoeing and kayaking – one camp even goes all the way to Lake Ashtabula! Wesley Acres also features a high ropes challenge course with several elements, including a 40 ft. rock wall and a zipline.
- All of our sites are accredited by the American Camping Association. The health and safety of campers, volunteers, and staff is a top priority of our camping ministry. Lake Poinsett Camp, Wesley Acres Camp, and Storm Mountain Center are all accredited through the American Camp Association (ACA), the only nationwide accrediting organization for all types of organized camps. To earn accreditation, camps must comply with hundreds of health, safety, and program quality standards.
- Camp Scholarships (Camperships) are available. Both locally here through Zion UMC and through Dakotas Conference, camp scholarships are available to any who may need financial assistance to attend. At the end of the day, we want to make sure that anyone who wants to go to camp can go to camp. Also, a hint: camperships make great gifts!
- Early Bird Deadline: Register for any Dakotas United Methodist Camp event at Lake Poinsett, Storm Mountain, or Wesley Acres by April 30, 2026, and receive a $25 Camp Store Credit. This credit may be redeemed for snacks at the canteen or items from the camp store.
