Sundays @Zion

What’s Going on at Zion this Sunday?

Worship

We gather for worship at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. each Sunday at Zion.

Our 8:45 a.m. early service is a contemporary-styled service, called “Footstool.” Footstool is a higher-energy service led by our Footstool Band.  We sing many current Christian praise songs, and a few older favorites, too.

At 11:00am, we offer a Traditional service that includes organ music and choir anthems.

Regardless of which service you attend, some things will always be the same:

  • A supportive, Spirit-led, and faith-filled community of believers
  • Messages grounded in the Bible intended to help you connect your faith to everyday life.
  • Hymns, songs, prayers, and times of reflection to help you draw near to God and grow in His grace.

We invite you to join us in the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion the first Sunday of each month. We practice Open Communion (sometimes called “The Lord’s Supper”), meaning that everyone is welcome to partake.  We celebrate with bread and grape juice (no alcohol).  If you require gluten-free communion wafers, please let us know so we can be of assistance.

Your children are welcome at Zion.  Nursery service is provided from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for ages infant through 4 years. For ages 5 through High School, we offer Sunday School. Contact person: Cynthia Shabb.

Christian Education for Adults

  • Sisters in Spirit

Sisters in Spirit is a Sunday School class geared toward adult women. The SIS class is presently reading and discussing the book “Love Wins” by Rob Bell.  To learn more about Sisters in Spirit, contact Connie Sherwood.

  • The Boot Class

The Boot Class studies the pastor’s sermon text for the day as the departure point for discussion. The class is very informal and is dependent on individuals sharing their understanding of the scripture reading. We begin with a prayer, then read the text (occasionally from several translations) and continue with what frequently becomes a lively, open discussion of that Sunday’s text.  If you have questions about the BOOT Class, email class leader, Don Miller. The BOOT Class meets downstairs, in the prayer chapel

  • Zion’s Gate

The Zion’s Gate study group uses the Wired Word curriculum to consider current events through the eyes of Christian faith.  Each Sunday, we’ll read a major news story from the preceding week, discussing it with reference to the Bible and our own faith experiences as Christians who have to contend with secular society. Zion’s Gate meets in the Narthex, on the couches. Questions? Contact John Shabb.

  • The Open Door Class

This quarterly study (thirteen lessons) presents stimulating lessons that explore the biblical message and how to apply it to daily life. Individuals and classes studying from this series will use the International Lessons, also called the Uniform Series. Adults move from a focus on the Word to reflection on personal, family, church, and community concerns. Questions? Contact Walter Mytych.
