Inclement Weather Policy

Should stormy weather arise and we need to consider cancelling worship services or other church activities, the following procedure will be followed:

  1. The pastor will check available information from the National Weather Service (http://www.weather.gov/) about current and expected weather conditions for our area, including any watches, warnings, advisories, etc.
  2. The pastor will then consult with Zion’s Lay Leader, Council chair, Trustee chair, and/or Staff Pastor Parish Relations      Committee chair to arrive at a decision about whether or not to issue a cancellation.
  3. The pastor will make the final decision on whether to proceed or cancel services. This decision should be made no later than 8:00 a.m. on Sunday to ensure that the news has time to circulate.
  4. In the event of a cancellation, the pastor will contact key lay leaders mentioned above and arrange for announcements to be made by area media outlets:
